Another lull due to being partially unavailable, but I still wanted something to show for it.
For whatever reason that work excluded modeling or texturing.
This week I tried getting more into a different music paradigm of trackers, specifically Famitracker, which emulates the NES 2A03 sound chip. It's exceedingly simple, and the idea behind using it this week is to see if it checks off enough boxes regarding whether I can jot down ideas in an efficient manner.
For practice to see if I was right, I wanted to make at least one sketch a day, showcasing a few different methods of taking advantage of the hardware limitations. I won't bother giving too detailed an explanation of each thing.
First, this sketch uses what I believe to be a single-channel echo effect, which manipulates the volume of a note to achieve that echo effect:
This next one uses dual-channel echo, taking advantage of both square wave voices:
The penultimate one uses volume manipulation, as well as some other specific stuff involving the square wave channels:
The last one uses dual-channel echo, duty cycle manipulation (to alter timbre), using the triangle wave channel for both the kick and bass simultaneously, and some other things I probably forgot:
