Shorter one this week in terms of media, as I actually don't have as much time to finish this post as I usually do.

I was sort of at a loss of how to proceed at the start of the week, as there wasn't that clear of a throughline for stringing together the various vignettes I had in my head. I asked Vives about this, and he brought up the possibility of making a sort of demo using just 1 or 2 of them, to use at a sort of template (for lack of better words) for the rest of the game.

A few years ago, I had a dream about some sort of observatory with a town surrounding it, and inside there was a clockwork model of the solar system.

Every component seemed to be doing something productive, in that every motion of every gear had some purpose to it. I have little doubt that an actual thing could be made from memory if lucid enough, even if it wouldn't work the way a solar system model should.

Like this, but much, much larger.

I was reminded about this dream because Yolle works a lot with gears and the like, and I thought about making a puzzle involving one of his machines.

Specifically, the first vignette I want to use involves neatly calibrating some device to achieve some goal.

The second vignette I thought of was a scene where some character accompanies you to complete something involving Kommiagana's route. Since Kommiagana's route involves digging to the center of Aether, I wanted to have a device or machine be used to dig/vaporize/otherwise remove rock and the like. I also wanted this device or machine to use clockwork. Also still, I wanted this clockwork to be accurate and consistent.

For the modeling of this machine, I needed to learn Blender for probably the 5th time.

I don't have enough time to properly expain most else after this, but the main thing of note involving this demo is the importance of restricting access to areas in a controlled way, and for this I'd probably have most of the puzzle take place in a cave, which is part of the 2nd vignette I had in mind.

Anyway, here's the result of having to learn blender in a day so I could even write this:

That's it for this week.
